The jet stream will dominate the UK's weather this week. The jet is currently very strong, due to extreme temperature differences across North America. A strong jet stream often results in the development of deep low pressure systems in the Atlantic, such as Storm Brendan on Monday. Also, the jet is set to be near or over the UK this week and will therefore direct these low pressure systems our way. The result is an unsettled week of weather to come. Keep up to date with the latest forecast and weather warnings and stay weather aware.

Interesting article about the work of the Scottish National Resilience Centre based in Dumfries. They work to provide advice and guidance about how to respond and recover from extreme weather events, and how communities can do their part.
